Meeting with the Mayor of Jyväskylä
On Friday, 19 December 2025, a delegation of the Ahmadiyya Muslimi Jamaat Suomi, headed by Imam Shahid Mahmood Kahloon, met with Timo Koivisto, Mayor of the City of Jyväskylä. The meeting served as an introduction to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat and its efforts to promote peace, dialogue, and service to society.
During the meeting, the delegation briefly described the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat as an international Muslim community founded in 1889 by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad in India, with a central mission of promoting peace, dialogue, and service to humanity. The community is currently led by its worldwide spiritual head, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who has been advocating for the establishment of global peace for more than two decades.
A newly translated Finnish edition of the Holy Quran was presented to the Mayor. This publication is the first Finnish translation in which the original Arabic text and Finnish translation appear side by side. The delegation also shared photographs from previous meetings with mayors of other cities, along with information about Holy Quran exhibitions held in public libraries across Finland.
Mayor Koivisto welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the community’s social work in Finland. The meeting concluded in a positive and constructive atmosphere, with both sides expressing greetings for the holiday season.
